코로나19로 가장 힘들었던 산업중 하나를 꼽으라면 자동차 산업일텐데요. 반도체도 부족하고 일손도 부족하고 해서요. 그래서 코로나 이후 자동차 제조 부품 업체인 BMW와 지멘스 등 28개사가 Catena-X를 런칭했습니다. 단합은 결코 아니고요! 예를 들어 대규모 리콜 사태가 벌어진다면 왜 리콜이 벌어졌는지 해당 데이터를 올리고 공유하는 것이에요. 경쟁사 좋으라고? 아니고요. 플랫폼 회원간에도 데이터를 이용하려면 기여자한테 경제적 인센티브를 주는 방식. 이러한 데이터들이 쌓이면 서로 서로 품질을 향상시킬 수 있겠죠?

안전한 자동차 데이터 교환을 위한 동맹 ‘Catena-X’ 출범

독일 비영리단체인 오토모티브 얼라이언스(Automotive Alliance)가 기업 간 데이터 공유와 관련해 개방성과 중립성을 보장하기 위한 추진 상황과 추가 이니셔티브의 세부 정보를 공개했다. 

“Catena-X(Catena-X Automotive Network)”라는 명칭으로 운영되는 오토모티브 얼라이언스는 구현 중심 네트워크(implementation-oriented network)로서 자동차 산업에서 기업 간 정보 및 데이터 공유와 관련해 개방성과 중립성을 보장하기 위해 노력한다. Catena-X는 독일에서 정식 협회로 등록할 계획이다. 

이 얼라이언스의 설립 멤버는 BMW AG, 도이체 텔레콤 AG, 로버트 보쉬 GmbH, SAP SE, 지멘스 AG, ZF 프리드리히스하펜 AG이다. 또한, 이니셔티브 멤버로 메르세데스-벤츠 AG, 바스프 SE, 헨켈 AG & Co. KGaA, 셰플러 AG, 저먼 엣지 클라우드 GmbH & Co. KG, ISTOS GmbH, SupplyOn AG, 독일 항공우주센터(DLR), 프라운호퍼 협회, ARENA2036, 그리고 다수의 중소기업(SMEs)이 참여하고 있다. 

Catena-X는 애플리케이션, 플랫폼 및 인프라 공급업체를 포함한 자동차 제조업체 및 공급업체, 딜러 협회 및 장비공급업체가 모두 동등하게 참여할 수 있는 확장 가능한 생태계로 정의하고 있다. Catena-X의 설립 목적은 전체 자동차 가치사슬에 걸쳐 정보 및 데이터 공유를 위한 단일한 표준을 만드는 데 있다.

Catena-X: The new network for data exchange of the leading industrial companies | Daimler

The european vehicle industry is linking up

The Mercedes-Benz AG and some of the leading players of the vehicle industry are joining forces to form a european partner network: „Catena-X“, the former Automotive Alliance, should enable a secure and cross-company wide data exchange of all participants of the automotive value chain.

In the future the group will operate under the name “Catena-X Automotive Network (Catena-X)”. As an implementation-oriented network and to ensure openness and neutrality, Catena-X plans to organise itself as a registered association in Germany. Catena-X sees itself as an extensible ecosystem in which automotive manufacturers and suppliers, dealer associations and equipment suppliers, including the providers of applications, platforms and infrastructure, can all participate equally. Among the members are Robert Bosch GmbH, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Deutsche Telekom AG as well as several small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). The purpose of the association is to create a uniform standard for information and data-sharing throughout the entire automotive value chain.

Continuously connected data chains in this way make it possible to create digital twins of automobiles, on the basis of which innovative business processes and service offerings can be developed. With the International Data Spaces (IDS) standard for data sovereignty, which also lays the foundation for the European cloud data infrastructure GAIA-X, the companies involved have already agreed on essential infrastructure foundations for project implementation.

독일에서는 2019년 10월에 GAIA-X 프로젝트의 추진 현황을 포함한 추진 제안을 발표했다. GAIA-X 프로젝트는 독일과 유럽의 데이터 주권 및 관련 기업의 경쟁력 확보 그리고 고용 확대를 목적으로 데이터 인프라 구축 및 데이터 생태계 조성을 위한 독일의 제안이다([GAIA-X의 목표] 참조). 독일에서는 그리스 신화에 나오는 대지의 신(神)인 GAIA가 만물의 근원인 것과 같이 어디에도 종속되지 않고, 무한히 뻗어 나가기를 염원하기 위해서 프로젝트 이름으로 활용했다고 한다. 이는 2019년 4월에 자주성, 상호운용성, 지속가능성을 강조한 인더스트리 4.0 비전 2030([1부] 및 [2부] 참조)을 발표한 이후이다.

GAIA-X 프로젝트의 목적 : 앞에서 언급한 바와 같이 GAIA-X 프로젝트는(특히 B2B 분야에서) 독일 및 유럽에서 데이터 주권 확보와 함께 다음과 같은 두 가지 목적을 가지고 추진된다([그림 1] 참조).
- 한 가지는 독일과 유럽의 클라우드 서비스 업체 및 산업의 경쟁력 강화이고,
- 다른 한 가지는 데이터 기반 이노베이션을 통한 제품 및 서비스 경쟁력 강화이다.

GAIA-X 란 무엇이며 AWS, Google 및 Azure가 관련된 이유는 무엇입니까? -CloudSavvy IT

2020 년 10 월 15 일, 27 개의 EU 회원국이 GAIA-X로 알려진 유럽 클라우드 연합 이니셔티브에 대해 협력하기로 합의했습니다. 이 이니셔티브는 Deutsche Telekom AG, Deutsche Bank AG, Siemens 및 Bosch를 포함한 약 100 개 기업 및 조직과 유럽 연합 집행위원회, 통보 된 회원국 간의 협력입니다.

사용자와 소비자가 가입 한 서비스와 상호 작용하는 “애플리케이션 계층”이 있습니다. 인프라 계층은 유연하고 동적 인 대역폭을 가진 상호 연결된 데이터 센터로 구성됩니다. 이전에 유럽 클라우드가 제안되었습니다. CloudWatt와 같은 프로젝트에 수백만 달러가 투입 되었음에도 불구하고 아무것도 실현되지 않았습니다. GAIA-X는 아직 초기 단계입니다. 개념 증명 아이디어는 2021 년 말까지 예상됩니다. 실제 디자인은 일련의 이상에 불과하지만 프로젝트 목표와 이점이 설정되었습니다.
